Come Stay Learn and Contribute (COSLEC) is an initiative of TradeAID Integrated following the implementation a project with International Service UK which was funded by DFID. The project brought into Ghana British volunteers who supported TradeAID in several areas of its work. Over the period of the project over 90xxx volunteers worked with TradeAID. To sustain this initiative TradeAID came up with COSLEC to provide organised efforts at incorporating volunteerism and providing opportunities for the international community to contribute to its work as well as promoting eco-tourism and various tourist attractions in Northern Ghana especially the Upper East Region.

Goal and Objective

The ultimate goal of COSLEC is to provide opportunity for the international community to contribute and learn from the work of TradeAID Integrated so as to scale up the impact of the organization's works. The “COME, STAY, LEARN and CONTRIBUTE (COSLEC)” Project aims to provide opportunities to individuals worldwide and Eco-tourism enthusiast to contribute to the work of the organization.

Objectives of COSLEC:

  • Attract Skills and Students Volunteers from the international community to support the work of TradeAID and other development efforts in the Upper East Region and Ghana at large.

  • Inculcate the spirit of volunteerism into the Ghanaian youth a culture which is necessary but lacking in the Ghanaian system.

  • COSLEC seeks to sell the various tourist sites in the Upper East region to the world and also encourage cultural exchange between Ghana and other countries.

  • Also, COSLEC seeks to help in reducing poverty which the organization; TradeAID has always been fighting for.

What Does COSLEC offer to Participants?

COSLEC Offer volunteers opportunity to join the several areas of work of TradeAID and the entire development eco-system in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The list below provides some interesting areas for volunteers.

  • Fair trade education and awareness creation

  • Product development and design with craft groups .

  • Agronomic practices with farmers

  • Business Education with Farmers and craft groups

  • Practical craft making eg. basket weaving

  • Women Empowerment

  • Support in the organization (BICAF) of the craft and arts festival

  • Irrigation agriculture

  • Start up support for youth Entrepreneurship and Business incubation

  • Advocacy and trade and agricultural policies

  • Social and religious systems

Volunteers can enjoy the exciting tourist attractions in the Upper East Region and the entire Northern Ghana. Some of the sites include:

  • The Pikorow Slave camp

  • The paga crocodile pond

  • The Tongo hills.

  • Kulungugu bombing site

  • Sirigu pottery and art center
